Teaching with Technology: The Rise of AI in Education

Mark Warschauer, the director of the Digital Learning Lab at the University of California Irvine, talks about his recent study, where students’ essays were given to AI to receive feedback and compared to feedback from a teacher. He says, “I think AI will get integrated and incorporated into education, hopefully in a way that improves it, you know, rather than completely transforming it or shutting it down.” AI has been a hot topic in education recently due to students using it to create work that isn't theirs, but AI in education has a lot of potential to be helpful to students. Mark says instead of looking at it from how students can use it; it is good to also think about how teachers can use it to help students. It can alleviate a lot of stress from teachers who might not be able to give personalized feedback to students.
